Introduction

The document management system is among SharePoint’s most helpful features. To collaborate with individuals who have access to the data, business users can set up a website where they can submit files and documents. As long as the internet is accessible, users can collaborate with others in real time using this helpful tool.

Another benefit is SharePoint’s extensive connectivity with Microsoft products, including OneNote, OneDrive, and PowerPoint. Thus, this service would enhance your collaborative work if you are a Microsoft fan.

If you have an integrated SharePoint site, you can create a folder in Classic SharePoint using SharePoint Online (Office 365).

To establish a fresh folder, go to the Document Library, choose the Files tab via the ribbon, and press the New Folder button.

A SharePoint site would have a large number of files and directories. It is advised to build folders on the website and add various file kinds to distinct folders to enhance file management and productivity. The owner can quickly and easily access the target data in this way. So, in SharePoint, how can one create a new folder? This page provides you with two simple fixes.

Give your new folder a name by entering it in the window. A folder in SharePoint may need to be renamed at a later date.

You have the option to designate which persons you wish to have access to your folder by clicking the Invite People link, which is located beneath the name box. After the folder is established, the popup will be enlarged to include more fields for people to enter their names or email addresses and a dropdown menu to confirm the permissions those users should have.

By taking this action, the parent document library’s permission inheritance will be broken. The folder will automatically take on the permissions of the parent document library or folder in which it is contained if this optional step to configure permissions is omitted.
Click the Create button after completing the mandatory Name and optional information.

You will see the newly formed folder in your document library view. Click it to open the new folder and begin working inside.

One can create folders inside of one another. To create a child folder inside another, make sure you are clicking inside the parent folder before clicking to create a new one.

Select the Files tab on the ribbon, then click the New Folder button from this position to create a new child folder nested inside Folder 1.

Furthermore, we can build a brand-new document library for our SharePoint website. As previously indicated, libraries let you sync the required files and manage your directories. However, they also assist you in handling permissions.

Permissions for a document library may be quickly established, so you can grant users read-only access or restrict access entirely to a particular user.  The steps to build a new document library are as follows:

  • Access the site’s home page when you launch the SharePoint site.
  • After selecting Document Library, click Add New.
  • Assign a name to the library and confirm that Show in site navigation is chosen.
  • Click Create to begin constructing the new library.
